Boston University Presidential Scholarship 2025
Boston University (BU) offers the Presidential Scholarship as part of its commitment to supporting talented students who show a strong academic track record and leadership in their schools and communities. The scholarship recognizes students who have excelled academically and demonstrated a commitment to making a positive impact, regardless of financial need.
Benefits
- Scholarship Amount: The Presidential Scholarship provides $25,000 annually toward undergraduate tuition for up to four years, provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.
- Renewability: The scholarship is renewable each year, for a total of four years, as long as the recipient meets academic standards.
- Recognition: Recipients of the Presidential Scholarship are recognized as part of BU’s community of high achievers and future leaders, gaining access to various academic and extracurricular resources.
Eligibility
- Citizenship: Open to both U.S. citizens and international students.
- Academic Merit: Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. Typically, recipients rank in the top of their high school class and have SAT scores above 1500 or ACT scores above 33.
- Leadership and Extracurricular Involvement: In addition to strong academics, applicants must demonstrate leadership in their schools, communities, or extracurricular activities.
- First-Year Students: The scholarship is only available to first-year undergraduate applicants enrolling for the first time at Boston University.
Application Procedure
- Apply for Admission: Applicants must first apply for undergraduate admission to Boston University, either through the Common Application or Coalition Application. There is no separate application for the Presidential Scholarship.
- Submit Academic Records: Applicants are required to submit their high school transcripts, standardized test scores (if applicable), and any other documents needed for admission.
- Demonstrate Leadership: The admissions application should highlight the applicant’s leadership experiences, community service, and involvement in extracurricular activities.
- Deadlines: Students applying for the Presidential Scholarship must meet the admissions deadlines for the regular or early decision process.
Document Requirements
- Completed application for undergraduate admission.
- High school transcripts showing strong academic performance.
- Standardized test scores (SAT/ACT), if applicable.
- Letters of recommendation from teachers or counselors.
- Personal statement or essay as part of the admission application, outlining the applicant’s academic and leadership achievements.
Application Deadline
- Early Decision I Deadline: November 1, 2024.
- Early Decision II/Regular Decision Deadline: January 2, 2025.
