Boston University (BU) offers the Presidential Scholarship as part of its commitment to supporting talented students who show a strong academic track record and leadership in their schools and communities. The scholarship recognizes students who have excelled academically and demonstrated a commitment to making a positive impact, regardless of financial need.

Eligibility

• Citizenship: Open to both U.S. citizens and international students.
• Academic Merit: Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. Typically, recipients rank in the top of their high school class and have SAT scores above 1500 or ACT scores above 33.
• Leadership and Extracurricular Involvement: In addition to strong academics, applicants must demonstrate leadership in their schools, communities, or extracurricular activities.
• First-Year Students: The scholarship is only available to first-year undergraduate applicants enrolling for the first time at Boston University.

Application Procedure

1. Apply for Admission: Applicants must first apply for undergraduate admission to Boston University, either through the Common Application or Coalition Application. There is no separate application for the Presidential Scholarship.
2. Submit Academic Records: Applicants are required to submit their high school transcripts, standardized test scores (if applicable), and any other documents needed for admission.
3. Demonstrate Leadership: The admissions application should highlight the applicant’s leadership experiences, community service, and involvement in extracurricular activities.
4. Deadlines: Students applying for the Presidential Scholarship must meet the admissions deadlines for the regular or early decision process.
